Is It Permissible to Show Visuals During Quran Recitation?

❖ Ruling on Displaying Visuals During Quran Recitation ❖
✍️ Answered by: Fadīlat al-ʿĀlim Ḥāfiẓ Khidr Ḥayāt (ḥafiẓahullāh)

Question

What is the Islamic ruling on showing background visuals during the recitation of the Qur’an?

Key Considerations Regarding Background Imagery

① If the Visuals Distract From the Qur’an

If the displayed images or scenes divert attention away from the Qur’an, then this practice is impermissible.
▶ It may fall under the category of disregarding or turning away from the Qur’an, which is inappropriate and disrespectful.

If the Visuals Enhance Focus on the Qur’an

If the background visuals consist of natural landscapes, serene imagery, or other non-distracting scenes that help focus on the verses being recited, then there is no harm in showing them.
▶ The condition is that these visuals must not interfere with or diminish the sanctity and clarity of the Qur’an’s recitation.
