❖ Question:
What is the ruling regarding fasting on the 27th of Rajab?
Source: Fatāwā Amunpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amunpuri
✿ Answer:
Fasting on the 27th of Rajab is not legislated in Islam. Some people observe this fast with great importance, spend its night in worship, and even believe that its reward equals that of a thousand fasts. However, all such beliefs are baseless and without evidence.
❀ Statement of Imām al-Nawawī رحمه الله:
Imām al-Nawawī رحمه الله said:
رجب کی ستائیسویں رات کی فضیلت کے بارے میں جو روایات ہیں، وہ سب جھوٹی اور من گھڑت ہیں۔
"All narrations regarding the virtue of the 27th night of Rajab are fabricated and false."
(al-Majmūʿ Sharḥ al-Muhadhdhab: 6/440)

① The fast of the 27th Rajab is not prescribed in Islam.
② Beliefs about its reward being equal to a thousand fasts are fabrications.
③ Worship on the 27th night of Rajab has no authentic basis in the Qur’an or Sunnah.
