Is it permissible to wean a child before two years of age?
Yes, it is permissible for parents to wean the child before the completion of two years, provided that:
﴿فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالًا عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا﴾
“If both (parents) decide, by mutual consent and consultation, to wean (the child), there is no blame on them.”
Surah al-Baqarah (2): 233
① Weaning before two years is allowed,
② as long as there is mutual agreement and no harm to the child.

✿ Answer:
Yes, it is permissible for parents to wean the child before the completion of two years, provided that:
- It is done with mutual consent between both parents,
- and it does not harm the child’s health.
❀ Allah ﷻ says:
﴿فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالًا عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا﴾
“If both (parents) decide, by mutual consent and consultation, to wean (the child), there is no blame on them.”
Conclusion:
① Weaning before two years is allowed,
② as long as there is mutual agreement and no harm to the child.
