❖ Question:

Is it permissible to call the Adhān (call to prayer) or Iqāmah (call to commence prayer) for the ʿĪd prayer?

✿ Answer:

It is not legislated (non-prescribed) in Islam to call either the Adhān or Iqāmah for the ʿĪd prayers.

❀ Authentic Reports from the Companions:

✅ Sayyidunā Jābir ibn Samurah رضي الله عنه reported:

“I offered the ʿĪd prayers with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ many times.
Neither the Adhān was given nor the Iqāmah.”

📚 (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 887)

✅ Sayyidunā Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh رضي الله عنهما narrated:

“I was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of ʿĪd.
He began the ʿĪd prayer before the sermon.
There was neither an Adhān nor an Iqāmah.

📚 (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 885)

✅ Summary:

No Adhān or Iqāmah should be given for ʿĪd al-Fiṭr or ʿĪd al-Aḍḥā prayers.
✔ The Prophet ﷺ and his Companions did not practice this.
✔ The ʿĪd prayer starts without any vocal announcements, only with the Imām commencing the prayer.
