Question:
What is the ruling on intercourse with one’s wife during her menstrual period?
Answer:
Intercourse with one’s wife during menstruation is harām and a major sin.
❀ Ḥāfiẓ Ibn al-Mulaqqin رحمه الله (d. 804H) said:
الوطي فى الحيض حرام بالإجماع.
“Intercourse during menstruation is unanimously harām.”
(al-Tawḍīḥ: 5/48)
Conclusion:Having intercourse with a wife during her menstruation is strictly prohibited and unanimously regarded by scholars as a major sin.
