This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
Instructions Regarding Wearing a Turban
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far رضي الله عنه that when the family of Sayyiduna Ja'far رضي الله عنه received the news of his martyrdom, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم allowed the family of Ja'far to mourn for three days. Then the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came to them and said:
لا تبكوا على أخي بعد اليوم ثم قال: ادعوا الی بنی اخی
"Do not weep for my brother after today." Then he said: Bring my nephews to me.
When they were brought to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, they were so delicate and tender like chicks. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
أدعوا إلى الحلاق، فامره فحلق روسنا
"Bring the barber to me." When he was commanded, he shaved our heads.

② Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr رضي الله عنه narrates that I came to the presence of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, my hair was long. I heard the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم saying:
ذباب ، ذباب
"Misfortune, misfortune."
(At that time) there was no one with the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. I asked: Was your statement meant for me? Then I went out and cut my hair, then I came again to the presence of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and he said:
إني لم أعنك ، وهذا أحسن
"I did not intend any harm to you, but this condition is better."

Grooming the Hair
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من كان له شعر فليكرمه
"Whoever has hair, he should honor it."

② Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah رضي الله عنه reports that I asked the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم that my locks hang down to my shoulders, should I comb them? The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
نعم وأكرمها
"Yes! Honor them."
The narrator states: Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah رضي الله عنه, due to the command of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم
نعم وأكرمها
"Yes! Honor them," would sometimes apply oil to them twice a day.
Reference: Al-Muwatta, Kitab al-Jami', Bab fi Islah al-Sha'ar 2/949, this narration is weak, there is a discontinuity between Yahya bin Saeed and Abu Qatadah.
Instructions Regarding Applying Henna to Hair
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن أحسن ما غير به الشيب الحناء والكتم
"Dyeing white hair with henna and katam, a plant whose seeds are used to dye hair, is the best."

② Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states that a man passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who had dyed his hair with henna, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
ما أحسن هذا
"How good this is!"
Then another man passed by who had dyed his hair with henna and katam, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
هذا أحسن من هذا
"This is better than that."
Then another man passed by who had dyed his hair yellow, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
هذا أحسن من هذا كله
"This is better than all of them."

Prohibition of applying black dye on the beard
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
قوم يخضبون بالسواد فى آخر الزمان كحواصل الحمام لا يريحون رائحة الجنة
"In the last era, people will dye their hair black like the crop of a pigeon’s crop, and they will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise."

② Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه reports that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq رضي الله عنه’s father Abu Quhafa was brought, his head and beard were like Thughamah, a tree that grows on the mountain peak whose fruit and flowers are white, and when it dries, its whiteness increases. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
غيروا هذا واجتنبوا السواد
"Change it, but avoid black."
