Prayer upon Return from Travel

① Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik رضي الله عنه, when he was left behind in the Battle of Tabuk, narrates in his long hadith that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم came in the morning; when you صلى الله عليه وسلم returned from travel, you first went to the mosque and prayed two rak'ahs there, then narrated the hadith.

Rulings on Shortening the Prayer

① Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that I prayed four rak'ahs of Dhuhr prayer with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم (in Medina), and then you صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم set out with the intention of going to Makkah and at the place of Dhu al-Hilfah, (prayed) two rak'ahs of Asr prayer.

② Sayyiduna Nafi' رحمه الله narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما set out for Hajj or Umrah, and he performed the shortened prayer (qasr) at the place of Dhu al-Hilfah.

Instructions Regarding the Prayer of Fear

① Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar رضي الله عنهما narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم used to perform the prayer of fear (Salat al-Khawf) on some days. One group would stand with the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم for the prayer, and the other group would face the enemy. Those who were with the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم would pray one rak'ah and then leave, then the others would come, and the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم would lead them in one rak'ah. Both groups prayed one rak'ah each on their own.

Rulings of the Eid Prayers

① Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar رضي الله عنهما narrates that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, and Sayyiduna Umar رضي الله عنهم used to perform the Eid prayers before delivering the sermon on both Eids.
Reference: Bukhari, Book of Friday Prayer 920. Muslim, Book of Eid Prayers 888.

② Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه narrates that I prayed the Eid prayer with the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم; he performed the prayer before the sermon without Adhan and Iqamah. Then the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood up with the support of Sayyiduna Bilal رضي الله عنه, commanded to fear Allah, encouraged obedience to Him, preached and advised the people. Then he came to the women, also preached and advised them, and said:
تصدقن فإنكن أكثر حطب جهنم
“Give charity, for you are the majority of the fuel of Hellfire.”
Then a woman from among the people grabbed both her cheeks forcefully and said: O Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! Why? The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم replied:
لأنكن تكثرن الشكاة وتكفرن العشير
“Because you complain a lot and are ungrateful to your husband.”
Then she took off her jewelry and rings and started putting them as charity into the clothes of Sayyiduna Bilal رضي الله عنه.
