In the Battle of Mu'tah, Ja'far ibn Abi Talib (RA) had more than ninety wounds on his body

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abi Abdul Saboor Abdul Ghafoor Damni's book Fazail al-Jihad.

Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) appointed Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of the army in the Battle of Mu'tah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If Zaid bin Harithah is martyred in the battle, then Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) will be the commander, and if Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) is martyred, then Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) will be the commander." Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that I also participated in this battle. After the battle ended, we searched for Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and found him among the martyrs. We saw more than ninety wounds of spears and arrows on his body.

And in another narration, it is mentioned that all the wounds were on his front side:
Narrated from Nafi' that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) told him that I was standing by the body of Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him), and I counted fifty wounds of spears and swords on his body, none of which were on the back.
