Washing the hands, face, or feet before starting Wudu is permissible if done out of necessity. However, it is incorrect to regard this as an essential part of Wudu, since such an act is not established from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them), such as Abdullah bin Zayd bin Asim al-Mazini, Abdullah bin Abbas, and Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with them), have mentioned the importance of maintaining the order in Wudu. Hence, observing the proper sequence while performing Wudu is necessary.
Washing the limbs more than three times during Wudu is religiously prohibited and considered sinful. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated regarding such individuals:
"They did wrong, transgressed, and acted unjustly."
(Sunan Abu Dawood, Book of Purification, Chapter: Performing Wudu Thrice)
There is no time restriction in Shariah for completing Wudu, such as confining it to fifteen or twenty minutes. There is no specified duration for completing Wudu. However, the encouragement to perform Wudu in the best and complete manner is found in the Hadith. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"Shall I not tell you of the act by which Allah erases sins and elevates ranks?"
The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!"
He said: "Performing complete and excellent Wudu during times of difficulty (such as illness or cold), frequently going to the mosques, and waiting for the next prayer after performing one."
(Sahih Muslim, Book of Purification, Chapter: Virtue of Perfect Wudu During Hardships)
