✍️ Referenced from: Fatawa ‘Ulama-e-Hadith, Kitab al-Salah, Vol. 1

❖ Question

What is the translation of the Arabic phrase below, and is the correct word "حسبما" or "جسما"?
(الثابت عن ابن عمر بالاسانید الصحیحۃ ہو انّہ کان یرفع عند الافتتاح ، وعند الرفع من الرکوع وعند الرکوع حسبما رواہ مرفوعا)
(al-Ta‘liq al-Mumajjad, p. 89)

❖ Answer

The correct translation is:
“What is authentically established from Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنه through reliable chains is that he used to perform Raf‘ al-Yadayn (raising the hands) at the start of prayer, upon going into ruku‘, and upon rising from ruku‘, in the same manner as he narrated it as a marfu‘ (Prophetic) tradition.”

The correct word used in this context is "حسبما", which means “just as” or “in accordance with”.
It is not "جسما."
