❓ Question:

What should a woman do if she experiences menstruation or postnatal bleeding during Hajj?

✅ Answer:

When the time came for departure to Minā on the 8th of Dhul-Ḥijjah, the Prophet ﷺ saw Sayyidah ʿĀʾishah رضي الله عنها crying. He asked the reason, and she replied:

“I cannot perform Ṭawāf of the Kaʿbah, while everyone is going to Minā, and I am still in the state of ḥayḍ (menstruation).”

The Prophet ﷺ responded:

“Perform ghusl, wear your iḥrām, and do everything the pilgrims do — except do not perform Ṭawāf of the House (Kaʿbah).”
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Kitāb al-Ḥayḍ: Bāb taqḍī al-Ḥāʾiḍ al-Manāsik Kullahā illā Ṭawāf al-Bayt ḥadīth 305]

✿ Similar Incident:

When Sayyidah Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays رضي الله عنها gave birth to Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr during Hajj, the Prophet ﷺ instructed her:

“Perform ghusl, tighten your cloth (to prevent discharge), and then enter the state of iḥrām.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Kitāb al-Ḥajj: Bāb Ḥijjat an-Nabiyy ﷺ ḥadīth 1218]
