Faḍīlat al-Bāḥith Afzal Zaheer Jamali ḥafiẓahullāh

① Yes, there is an authentic narration reported by Sayyidunā Thābit ibn Ḍaḥḥāk

A man during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a vow that he would slaughter camels at a place called Buwānah. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of his vow.

The Prophet ﷺ asked:

❝Was there an idol from the idols of Jāhiliyyah that was worshipped there?❞
The people replied: No.

Then he ﷺ asked:
❝Was any festival from the festivals of the disbelievers celebrated there?❞
They said: No.

So the Prophet ﷺ said:

❝Fulfil your vow. However, it is not permissible to fulfil a vow that involves sin or that is beyond a person’s ownership.❞
[Sunan Abī Dāwūd: 3313]

Key Lessons from the Hadith

It is impermissible to perform sacrifices or acts of worship at places associated with pre-Islamic pagan rituals or disbelievers' festivals.

A Sharʿī vow is only valid when it involves obedience to Allah and is in line with His commandments.
Fulfilling a vow that involves sin or occurs at a non-Sharʿī location is not allowed.
