Ḥadīth: The Prophet ﷺ Disliked Loud Sneezing in the Mosque — Its Authenticity​

The Question​


What is the authenticity of the ḥadīth:
“The Prophet ﷺ disliked loud sneezing in the mosque”?


The Answer​


This narration is found in:


  • al-Kāmil by Ibn ʿAdī (9/114)
  • al-Sunan al-Kubrā by al-Bayhaqī (3581)
    and other collections.

Its chain is weak (ḍaʿīf) due to the following reasons:


Yaḥyā ibn Yazīd ibn ʿAbd al-Malik al-Nawfalī — weak.
(al-Kāmil by Ibn ʿAdī: 9/146)


Yazīd ibn ʿAbd al-Malik al-Nawfalī — also weak.
(al-Kāmil by Ibn ʿAdī: 9/146)


Dāwūd ibn Furayj — declared weak by the majority of imāms.


Conclusion​


The narration about the Prophet ﷺ disliking loud sneezing in the mosque is weak and cannot be used as authentic evidence.
