The path of guidance is solely dependent on following the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The worship of Allah will only be accepted in the manner brought by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). There is no other way to reach Allah (i.e., enter Paradise) except through the following and obedience to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
A Muslim's need for guidance towards the straight path is greater than their need for food and drink. While food and drink are necessities of this worldly life, the straight path is essential for the Hereafter.
Therefore, the prayer for walking on the straight path is mentioned. In every unit of prayer, whether obligatory or voluntary, the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha is mandatory (i.e., obligatory). Allah says:
"Guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked Your anger or of those who are astray."
(Surah Al-Fatiha: 6-7)
Muslims continuously pray to Allah to guide them to the path of the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous—those who have received His favor—and to keep them away from the path of those who have incurred His wrath and those who have gone astray, including Jews, Christians, and other enemies of the faith.
The verse "those upon whom You have bestowed favor" establishes the authority of consensus (Ijma). For further evidence of the authority of Ijma, refer to Imam Shafi'i's book "Ar-Risalah" and Al-Hakim an-Naysaburi's "Al-Mustadrak" [1/116]. Alhamdulillah.
The Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) guidance of both jinn and humans to the straight path is the light mentioned by Allah in the following verse:
"O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner, and one who invites to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp."
(Surah Al-Ahzab: 45-46)
In this verse, Allah refers to the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a "Siraajam Muneera" (an illuminating lamp), through which Allah enlightens His servants so that they may stay on the straight path. This is the meaning of "an-Noor" mentioned in the Noble Quran:
"So believe in Allah and His Messenger and the light which We have sent down."
(Surah At-Taghabun: 8)
The Noor (Quran) contains the guidance that leads to the straight path.
