Good conduct, fulfilling promises, listening to unpleasant matters, and the injunctions regarding disgrace

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.

Instructions Regarding Good Conduct​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
إن الهدي الصالح والسمت الصالح والاقتصاد جزء من خمسة وعشرين جزءا من النبوة
"Good conduct, good appearance, and moderation are one twenty-fifth part of prophethood."

Instructions Regarding Fulfilling Promises​

① Sayyiduna Abu Jahifah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), he was a fair young man. And Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) resembled him. The narrator says, I asked Sayyiduna Abu Jahifah (may Allah be pleased with him) to describe the blessed appearance of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: He was fair with a reddish tint. The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered us to give thirteen she-camels. When we went to take them, he had passed away, so we did not receive anything. Then when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) became Caliph, he said: If the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had made a promise to someone, let that person come and take that thing. So I stood up and informed him about it, and he ordered that (camel) to be given to us.

Listening to the words of those whom one dislikes​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من استمع إلى حديث قوم وهم له كارهون صب فى أذنيه الآنك يوم القيامة
"Whoever listens to the talk of people who dislike having their words heard by others, molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection."

Prohibition of Defaming People​

​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
إن من أربى الربا الاستطالة فى عرض المسلم بغير حق
"Unjustly defaming people is the greatest oppression."
