Giving Wealth to Avoid the Harm of an Oppressor

Author: Dr. Muhammad Zia-ur-Rahman Azmi (رحمہ اللہ)

Permissibility of Giving Wealth to Avert the Harm of an Oppressor

If a person, to protect themselves from the harm of an oppressor, gives a portion of their wealth—knowing that refusal may lead to their destruction and no other option remains—then there is no prohibition in doing so.

However, it is not permissible for the oppressor to take such wealth, as they are wrongfully seizing what does not rightfully belong to them.
