Ghusl on Friday and Wudu Afterwards

Written by: Sheikh Mubashir Ahmad Rabbani (May Allah protect him)

Question:

Is it necessary to perform wudu after taking a bath (ghusl) on Friday?

Answer:

If a person has performed wudu before taking a bath, then there is no need to perform wudu again, provided that they did not touch their private parts. This is because touching the private parts invalidates the wudu. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"No prayer is accepted from someone who has nullified their wudu until they perform wudu."

[Sahih Bukhari, Book of Wudu: Chapter on Prayer Not Accepted Without Purification: 135]

In another hadith, it is stated:

"Whoever touches their private parts should perform wudu."

[Sunan Abi Dawood, Book of Purification: Chapter on Wudu after Touching the Private Parts: 181]
