Few Sunnah Supplications in the Light of Authentic Ahadith

Some Sunnah Prayers​


① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم used to supplicate:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
"O Allah! I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency (contentment)."

② It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that indeed the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم used to recite this supplication in prostration:
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ: دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، وَعَلَانِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ
"O Allah! Forgive me all my small and great sins, those done earlier and later, those done openly and secretly."

③ Sayyida Aisha Siddiqah رضي الله عنها says that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم used to supplicate:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا عَمِلْتُ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا لَمْ أَعْمَلْ
"O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of the deeds I have done and from the evil of the deeds I have not done."

④ Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq رضي الله عنه states that he asked the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم to teach him a supplication which he could recite in his prayer. The Prophet said: Recite this:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا , وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ , فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ , وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
"O Allah! I have wronged myself greatly, and none forgives sins except You, so forgive me with Your special forgiveness and have mercy on me. Indeed, You are the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful."

⑤ Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah رضي الله عنه says the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said:
اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو، فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ
"The supplication of a distressed person is: O Allah! I hope for Your mercy; do not leave me to myself even for a moment. Rectify all my affairs. There is no deity except You."

Al-Albani رحمه الله said it is "Hasan Isnad."
⑥ Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه says that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم used to supplicate:
اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ لِي دِينِي الَّذِي هُوَ عِصْمَةُ أَمْرِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي دُنْيَايَ الَّتِي فِيهَا مَعَاشِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي آخِرَتِي الَّتِي إِلَيْهَا مَعَادِي، وَاجْعَلِ الْحَيَاةَ زِيَادَةً لِي فِي كُلِّ خَيْرٍ، وَاجْعَلِ الْمَوْتَ رَاحَةً لِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَرٍّ.
"O Allah! Reform my religion which is the safeguard of my end, reform my worldly life in which is my livelihood, reform my Hereafter to which I shall return, make my life an increase in good deeds, and make my death a relief from every evil."

⑦ Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar رضي الله عنهما says: One of the supplications of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم was:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ
"O Allah! I seek refuge from the decline of Your blessings, from being deprived of Your well-being, from Your sudden punishment, and from all forms of Your wrath."
