Question:
What is the fate of a person who disrespects Sayyidunā Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī رضي الله عنهما?
Answer:
Sayyidunā Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī رضي الله عنهما was beloved to Allah, His Messenger ﷺ, and the Companions of the Messenger ﷺ. Therefore, loving him is a requirement of faith. Ahl al-Sunnah honor and respect all the Companions, giving every Companion his due right.
Loving and respecting Sayyidunā Ḥusayn رضي الله عنه is essential. Showing disrespect towards him is insolence and an invitation to the punishment of Allah.
✿ The respected Tābiʿī, Abū Rajāʾ al-ʿAṭṭāridī رحمه الله (d. 105H) said:
لا تسبوا عليا، ولا أهل هذا البيت، إن جارا لنا من بني الهجيم قدم من الكوفة فقال : ألم تروا هذا الفاسق ابن الفاسق؟ إن الله قتله، يعني الحسين عليه السلام ، قال : فرماه الله بكوكبين فى عينه، فطمس الله بصره .
“Do not revile ʿAlī رضي الله عنه nor the members of his household. A neighbor of ours from Banū al-Hujaym came from Kūfah and said: ‘Do you not see this sinner, the son of a sinner? Allah killed him,’—meaning Ḥusayn رضي الله عنه. Allah then struck his eyes with two stars from the sky, and his eyesight was obliterated.”
