The Reality of the Ḥadīth on Loving the Arabs
Source: Fatāwā Amun Pūrī by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amun Pūrī
The Question
What is the authenticity of the ḥadīth:
“Love the Arabs for three reasons: because I am an Arab, the Qur’an is in Arabic, and the language of Paradise is Arabic.”
The Answer
This narration is found in al-Mustadrak of al-Ḥākim (7000) and other works.
It is fabricated (mawḍūʿ).
- Yaḥyā ibn Buraydah al-Shuʿarī is abandoned (matrūk).
- He is followed by Muḥammad ibn Faḍl al-Khurāsānī, who himself is unreliable.
