This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mosuli, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked: O Messenger of Allah, who are the best people?
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
من طال عمره وحسن عمله
“The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good.”
He asked: “Who are the worst people?”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
من طال عمره وساء عمله
“The one whose life is long and whose deeds are bad.”
Reference: Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Zuhd 2330. The narration is authentic.
① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
ما من أحد يموت إلا ندم ، إن كان محسنا ندم أن لا يكون ازداد ، و إن كان مسيئا ندم أن لا يكون نزع
"Every dying person feels regret; if he is a righteous person, he regrets that he could not do more good deeds, and if he is a sinner, he regrets that he did not refrain from them."
Reference: Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Zuhd from the Messenger of Allah 2403. The narration is very weak. In its chain, Yahya ibn Ubaidullah is a narrator whose hadith is abandoned. See: Mizan al-I'tidal 4/395.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhaib رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
عجبا لأمر المؤمن إن أمره كله خير وليس ذاك لأحد إلا للمؤمن إن أصابته سراء شكر فكان خيرا له ، وإن أصابته ضراء صبر فكان خيرا له
"The matter of the believer is indeed strange; in every matter of his there is good, and this happiness is only for the believer. When he is given happiness and he gives thanks, it is better for him, and if he is afflicted with hardship and he is patient, that is also better for him."

① Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali رضي الله عنهما narrates, I remembered from the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم:
دع ما يريبك إلى ما لا يريبك فإن الصدق طمأنينة والكذب ريبة
"Leave that which makes you doubtful and choose that which does not make you doubtful. For truth brings peace of mind and falsehood brings doubt."
