Text of the ḥadīth:
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)
◈ Translation
Rifāʿah ibn Rāfiʿ (رضي الله عنه) reported:
We were praying behind the Prophet ﷺ. When he raised his head from rukūʿ and said:
“Samiʿa’Llāhu liman ḥamidah”
a man behind him said:
“Rabbana wa laka’l-ḥamd, ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīh.”
When the Prophet ﷺ finished the prayer, he asked: “Who said that?”
The man replied: “I did.”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“I saw more than thirty angels racing to record it first.”
Conclusion
- This duʿāʾ was indeed recited by a Companion (رضي الله عنه) after rukūʿ.
- The Prophet ﷺ approved it and praised it.
- He even informed that over thirty angels hastened to record it.
- Hence, reciting “Rabbana wa laka’l-ḥamd, ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīh” after rukūʿ is not only permissible but also carries virtue and reward.
