Will Any Believer Remain in Hell Forever?

Question:
Will any believer remain in Hell forever?
Answer:
If a sinful believer or monotheist dies without repentance, then he is under the Will of Allah ﷻ:
- If Allah wills, He may forgive him without punishment and admit him directly into Paradise.
- If Allah wills, He may punish him first and then admit him into Paradise.
Thus, no sinful believer will remain in Hell eternally. One day, such a person will certainly be taken out of Hell and entered into Paradise.
❀ Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله (d. 728H) said:
الذي اتفق عليه أهل السنة والجماعة أن النار لا يخلد فيها أحد من أهل الإيمان والتوحيد كما ثبت ذلك فى الأحاديث إنه يخرج من النار من كان فى قلبه مثقال ذرة من الإيمان.
"What Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamāʿah have unanimously agreed upon is that none of the people of īmān and tawḥīd will remain in Hell forever. As established in the ḥadīth, everyone who has even a mustard seed’s weight of īmān in his heart will be taken out of Hell."
