❖ Remembrances After Saying Salam in Salah ❖​

➊ Report from Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه:


“I used to know that the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had ended when I heard Allāhu Akbar.”
[Bukhari: 841–842, Book of Adhan: Chapter on Dhikr after Prayer]


It should be noted that chanting Lā ilāha illā Allāh loudly immediately after prayer is not proven by any authentic narration.


➋ Report from Thawban رضي الله عنه:


When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ completed the prayer, he would say Astaghfirullāh three times, then say:
اللهم أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ وَتَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
[Muslim: 591, Abu Dawood: 3/68, Ibn Majah: 928, Ahmad: 5/275, Abu Awanah: 2/242, Darimi: 1/311, Ibn Khuzaymah: 737, Ibn Hibban: 2003]


The addition:
وَإِلَيْكَ يَرْجِعُ السَّلَامُ حَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ وَأَدْخِلْنَا دَارَ السَّلَامِ
is not established in any authentic Hadith.


➌ Report from Al-Bara’ رضي الله عنه:


After prayer, the Prophet ﷺ would say:
رَبِّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ
[Muslim: 709, Book of Travellers’ Prayer and its Shortening: Chapter on Imam’s Right Side]


➍ Advice to Mu’adh رضي الله عنه:


The Prophet ﷺ instructed:
“Do not leave these words after each prayer:”
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
[Sahih Abu Dawood: 1347, Abu Dawood: 1522, Nasai: 3/53]


➎ Report from Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه:


The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing prevents him from entering Paradise except death.”
[Sahih: As-Silsilah As-Saheehah: 972, Nasai: 6/30, Tabarani Al-Kabir: 8/134, Majma’ az-Zawa’id: 2/148]


The narration stating:
"He will remain in the protection of Allah until the next prayer"
is weak.
[Weak: Ad-Da‘ifah: 5135, Tamam Al-Minnah: p. 227]


➏ Report from Uqbah ibn Aamir رضي الله عنه:


The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to recite the Mu’awwidhat (i.e., Surah Al-Falaq, Surah An-Naas, and Surah Al-Ikhlas) after every prayer.

➐ Report from Mughirah ibn Shu'bah رضي الله عنه:


After every obligatory prayer, the Prophet ﷺ used to say:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ
[Bukhari: 844, Muslim: 593, Abu Dawood: 1505, Nasai: 3/70, Abu Awanah: 2/243, Ibn Abi Shaybah: 10/231, Darimi: 1/311, Ibn Khuzaymah: 742]


➑ Report from Ibn Zubair رضي الله عنه:


After every prayer, the Prophet ﷺ would say:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَلَا نَعْبُدُ إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ، لَهُ النِّعْمَةُ وَلَهُ الْفَضْلُ وَلَهُ الثَّنَاءُ الْحَسَنُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ
[Muslim: 594, Abu Dawood: 741, Nasai: 3/69, Ibn Abi Shaybah: 10/232, Abu Awanah: 2/246, Ibn Khuzaymah: 741, Bayhaqi: 2/185, Ibn Hibban: 2008]


➒ Virtue of Tasbeeh after Prayer:


Whoever says after each prayer:

• 33 times Subḥānallāh
• 33 times Alḥamdulillāh
• 33 times Allāhu Akbar
  And completes 100 by saying once:
  لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Then all his sins will be forgiven, even if they are as much as the foam of the sea.
[Muslim: 597, Ahmad: 2/371]


In another narration, Allāhu Akbar is said 34 times.
[Muslim: 596]


Another narration mentions saying 10 times each: Subḥānallāh, Alḥamdulillāh, and Allāhu Akbar.
[Sahih Ibn Majah: 754, Mishkat: 2406, Abu Dawood: 5065, Tirmidhi: 3410]


➓ Report from Sa’d رضي الله عنه:


After prayer, the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge in Allah from the following:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أُرَدَّ إِلَى أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ
[Bukhari: 2822, Nasai: 8/256, Tirmidhi: 3567, Ibn Hibban: 1004, Sharh al-Sunnah: 2/34]


⓫ Report from Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها:


After Fajr prayer, the Prophet ﷺ would recite:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
[Sahih Ibn Majah: 753, Ibn Majah: 925, Ahmad: 6/294, Humaydi: 299]


⓬ Report from Anas رضي الله عنه:


The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever offers Fajr prayer in congregation, then remains seated remembering Allah until sunrise, and then prays two Rak’ahs, will receive the reward equal to a complete Hajj and Umrah."
