This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
"Whoever endows a horse in the way of Allah, believing in Allah and confirming His promise, then its food and drink will be counted as his charity, and its urine will be weighed on the scale of his good deeds on the Day of Judgment."
Reference: Bukhari, Book of Jihad, Hadith 2853.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
“No person who enters Paradise will wish to return to the world except the martyr. The martyr will see his honor and dignity in Paradise and wish to return to the world so that he may be martyred ten times.”
Reference: Bukhari, Book of Jihad and Expedition 2817. Muslim, Book of Leadership 1877.
② It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
“Whoever sincerely asks Allah for martyrdom will attain the status and rank of the martyrs even if he dies on his bed.”
Reference: Muslim, Book of Leadership 1909. Tirmidhi 1653.
③ Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
“The souls of the martyrs are in the bodies of green birds which are suspended with the fruits or trees of Paradise.”
Reference: Tirmidhi 1641. The narration is authentic.
④ Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Ma'dikarib رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
“Allah has six qualities and rewards for the martyr: he is forgiven at the first instance, he sees his house in Paradise, he is safe and secure from the torment of the grave and the great terror (the Day of Judgment), a crown of dignity made of wings and jewels will be placed on his head which is better than the world and all that is in it, he will be married to seventy-two of the best houris, and his intercession will be accepted for seventy of his relatives.”
Reference: Tirmidhi, Book of the Virtues of Jihad 1663. The narration is good.
① Masrooq narrates, we asked Sayyiduna Abdullah رضي الله عنه about this verse:
"And do not consider those who are killed in the way of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive, receiving provision from their Lord."
Reference: (Surah Al-Imran: 169)
Regarding this, he said we also asked the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم about it, and he said:
"Their souls are in the bellies of green birds. For them, lanterns are suspended with the Throne. They go wherever they wish in Paradise and then return to those lanterns. Their Lord looks at them and says: Do you desire anything? They say: What desire could we have? We can go wherever we wish in Paradise. Allah will ask them this three times, but when they see that this question continues to be asked, they will say: O Lord! We wish that our souls be returned to our bodies so that we may be martyred again in Your way. When He sees that they have no other need, He leaves them as they are."

③ Sayyiduna Bara رضي الله عنه narrates, a man wearing armor and armed came to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and asked: O Messenger of Allah! Should I fight or accept Islam? The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
Accept Islam first."
The narrator says, he accepted Islam, then fought and was martyred. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
"He did little action but received a great reward."

④ Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه narrates, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
"Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, is very pleased with a person who fought in the way of Allah, then his companions were defeated, and he remembered how much sin there would be on him for fleeing the battlefield, so he returned to the battlefield until he was martyred. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says to His angels: Look at My servant; he turned back to the battlefield out of desire for the reward I have and fear of the punishment with Me, until he was martyred."
