Ways to Protect Yourself from the Dajjal

It is narrated from Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Whoever hears about the emergence of the Dajjal should keep away from him. Indeed, a person will go to him with complete certainty in his faith, but upon seeing his strange and wondrous tricks, he will become his follower.

In one narration, the Prophet (peace be upon him) swore by Allah while narrating this hadith.

In one narration, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said three times: فلينأ منه Stay away from the Dajjal because when a person approaches him, he will confirm him after seeing his tricks.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf and recites them will be protected from the trial of the Dajjal.

It is narrated from Hazrat Nawas bin Sam'an (may Allah be pleased with him) that one morning the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) mentioned the Dajjal. He is a young man with curly hair. I could liken him to Abd al-Uzza bin Qatan, the disbeliever. Whoever among you encounters the Dajjal should recite the opening verses of Surah Al-Kahf.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever recites the last ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the trial of the Dajjal.

Reference: Ahmad 499/6

(The aforementioned narrations seem contradictory regarding whether the first ten verses should be read or memorized, or the last ten, or any ten verses. The answer is discussed in the benefits section.)
It is narrated from Hazrat Hisham bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Whoever says to the Dajjal, "You are my Lord," will be afflicted by the trial, but whoever says, "You are a liar, my Lord is Allah, and I trust in Him," the Dajjal will not be able to harm him, or the Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the trial will not harm him.
Reference: Ahmad 28/4 Hakim: Book of Tribulations and Battles: 554/4 8551 Abdul Razzaq 395/11 Al-Mu'jam al-Kabir 175/22

In one narration, the Dajjal will say, "I am your Lord." Whoever says, "You are not our Lord; our Lord is Allah alone, without partner, and upon Him we rely and seek refuge from your evil," the Dajjal's power will not affect that person.
