Ease in religion, perseverance in good deeds, and the virtue of being concise

This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.

Religion is Easy

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (RA) that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
إن الدين يسر، ولن يشاد الدين أحد إلا غلبه، فسددوا وقاربوا، وأبشروا، واستعينوا بالغدوة والروحة وشيء من الدلجة
"Indeed, religion is very easy. Whoever makes it hard upon himself, religion will overpower him. So adopt moderation, stay close, and be content. Seek help through worship in the morning, after noon, and a part of the night."
Reference: Al-Bukhari, Book of Faith (39); Muslim, Book of the Description of the Resurrection, Paradise, and Hellfire (5036).

Consistency in Good Deeds

① Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that it was asked from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): Which deed is most beloved to Allah? He (peace be upon him) said:
أدومه وإن قل
"The one that is done consistently, even if it is little."
Reference: Bukhari, Book of Fasting (1987). Muslim, Book of Traveler's Prayer and Shortening It (783). Abu Dawood, Book of Prayer (1370).

② It is also narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
عليكم بما تطيقون، فوالله لا يمل الله حتى تملوا، وإن أحب العمل إلى الله أدومه وإن قل
"Stop! Only take upon yourself what you are capable of. By Allah! Allah does not get tired of giving reward, but you will get tired. And the most beloved deed to Allah is the one that is done consistently, even if it is little, and you continue to do the deeds you perform."
Reference: Bukhari, Book of Faith (39). Muslim, Book of Fasting (783).

③ Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a woman from the Banu Asad tribe was sitting with me when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to me and said: من هذه ؟
"Who is this?"
I said: She is so-and-so woman; she does not sleep all night, and I mentioned her frequent prayers. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
مه، عليكم من الأعمال ما تطيقون، فإن الله لا يمل حتى تملوا، وكان أحب الدين إليه ما دام عليه صاحبه
"Stop! Only take upon yourself what you can do. For Allah does not get tired of giving reward until you get tired. The most beloved deed to Allah is the one whose doer persists in it."
Reference: Bukhari, Book of Faith (43). Muslim, Book of Fasting (783).

④ Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that three men came to the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to ask about the worship of the Prophet (peace be upon him). When they were told, they seemed to find it insufficient and said: "What relation do we have with the Prophet (peace be upon him)! All his past and future sins have been forgiven." One of them said: "As for me, I will pray all night." The second said: "I will always fast and never break my fast." The third said: "I will avoid women and never marry."
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came and said:
أنتم الذين قلتم كذا وكذا؟ أما والله إني لأخشاكم لله وأتقاكم له، لكني أصوم وأفطر، وأصلي وأرقد، وأتزوج النساء، فمن رغب عن سنتي فليس مني
"You are the ones who said such things. Listen! By Allah! I fear Allah more than you and have more piety of Him than you. But I fast and break my fast, I pray and sleep at night, and I have married women; so whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not from me."

Conciseness is a Part of Faith

① Sayyiduna Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
الحياء والعي شعبتان من الإيمان، والبداء والبيان شعبتان من النفاق
“Modesty and conciseness are two parts of faith, while foul speech, bad manners, and excessive talking are two parts of hypocrisy.”
Reference: Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Birr wa al-Silah: 2027. Musnad Ahmad, Baqi Musnad al-Ansar: 5/269, the narration is authentic.
