❖ Does Sodomy (Liwāṭah) Break the Fast?
Source: Fatāwā Amunpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amunpuri
❖ Question:
Does sodomy (anal intercourse) invalidate the fast?
❖ Answer:
Sodomy (لِوَاطَت) is a form of fornication (zinā) — in fact, it is more grievous than conventional fornication.
It breaks the fast, and both qaḍāʼ (making up the fast) and kaffārah (expiation) become obligatory upon the one who commits it.

“Zinā, linguistically, refers to engaging in sexual intercourse in the private part through unlawful means. Included under zinā are sodomy (liwāṭah) and bestiality.”

Summary:
① Sodomy is an unlawful sexual act and worse than zinā.
② Committing it invalidates the fast.
③ Qaḍāʼ and kaffārah are both required for the one who commits this act.
