Does a person who dies on Friday remain safe from the punishment of the grave?
There is a narration often cited regarding this matter.
It is attributed to Sayyidunā ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr رضي الله عنهما that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever dies on Friday or the night of Friday will be protected from the punishment of the grave.”
(Musnad Aḥmad: 2/220)
However, its chain is weak. Muʿāwiyah ibn Saʿīd al-Taymī is of unknown status (majhūl al-ḥāl). Other chains of this narration are also weak.
