Disobedience to the Husband, Unjustly Seeking Divorce, Injustice Between Wives, Revealing Marital Secrets, and Runaway Slaves

◈ Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"When a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning, and Allah—Who is above the heavens—remains displeased until her husband is pleased with her."
[Bukhari: 3237; Muslim: 1436]
◈ In another narration from Abu Hurairah (RA), the Prophet ﷺ said:
"If I were to command anyone to prostrate to another, I would have commanded the woman to prostrate to her husband."
[Tirmidhi: 1159]
◈ Mu‘adh bin Jabal (RA) narrated: The Prophet ﷺ said:
"If a woman harms her husband in this world, his Hoor-wife from Paradise will say: 'May Allah destroy you! Do not harm him, for he is only a temporary guest with you; soon he will leave you and join us.'"
[Tirmidhi: 1174; Ibn Majah: 2014]
◈ The Prophet ﷺ said:
"When a woman offers her five daily prayers, fasts in Ramadan, and obeys her husband, she may enter Paradise through whichever gate she pleases."
[Ibn Hibban: 4163; Sahih al-Jami‘: 661]
◈ Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (RA) narrated: The Prophet ﷺ addressed the women:
"Give charity, for I have seen that most of the dwellers of Hell are women."
A woman asked: “Why, O Messenger of Allah?”
He replied: "Because you complain too much and are ungrateful to your husbands."
[Muslim: 885]
◈ Many women hastily demand divorce over trivial issues. However, in Islam, seeking divorce without a valid reason is prohibited.
◈ Thawban (RA) narrated: The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Any woman who seeks divorce from her husband without a valid reason will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise."
[Tirmidhi: 1187]
❀ The husband does not pray
❀ He uses intoxicants
❀ He forces her to commit unlawful acts
❀ He oppresses or abuses her
In such cases, seeking divorce for the protection of religion and self is permissible, in shā’ Allāh.
◈ Allah Almighty says:
“And live with them honorably.”
[An-Nisā’: 19]
◈ The Prophet ﷺ said:
"The best of you is the one who is best to his wives."
[Tirmidhi: 1162]
✿ Ensure justice between all wives
✿ Be fair in overnight stays, expenses, clothing, and other rights
✿ Emotional inclination is excused, as it is not in one’s control
◈ Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated: The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever has two wives and inclines towards one unjustly, he will come on the Day of Judgment with one side of his body paralyzed."

◈ Disclosing intimate marital secrets is a major sin.
◈ Abu Sa‘id (RA) narrated: The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Among the worst people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Judgment is the one who has relations with his wife, and she with him, then he discloses her secrets."
[Muslim: 1437]
◈ In another narration, such a person is deemed a betrayer of trust before Allah on the Day of Judgment.
◈ Likewise, if a woman reveals her husband’s secrets to others, it is also a breach of trust.
◈ Jarir (RA) narrated: The Prophet ﷺ said:
"When a slave runs away from his master, his prayer is not accepted."
[Muslim: 70]
◈ In another narration:
"A slave who escapes from his master has committed disbelief until he returns."
[Muslim: 68]
◈ Another Hadith states:
"When a slave runs away, Allah’s responsibility (to forgive or protect him) is lifted from him."
[Muslim: 69]

❖ Ungratefulness to the Husband and Requesting Divorce Without Cause

Valid Shar‘i Reasons for Seeking Divorce:
❀ The husband does not pray

❀ He forces her to commit unlawful acts

❖ Injustice Between Wives
◈ Allah Almighty says:

◈ Another Hadith states:
"When a slave runs away, Allah’s responsibility (to forgive or protect him) is lifted from him."
