Are the prayers of Tahajjud and Tarawih the same, or are they different?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd:
The prayer of Tarawih, Tahajjud, Qiyām al-Layl, and Qiyām of the month of Ramadan are in reality one and the same prayer, known by different names.
As clarified by ʿAllāmah Anwar Shāh Kashmīrī (رحمه الله) in ʿUrf al-Shadhī, this is a single prayer with multiple designations.
Refer to Mirʿāt al-Mafātīḥ Sharḥ Mishkāt by Shaykh ʿUbaydullāh Mubārakpūrī, Bāb Qiyām Ramaḍān.
