❀ Is the Testimony of Four Eyewitnesses a Condition for the Ḥadd of Zina? ❀

Is it necessary that the four witnesses for establishing the ḥadd of zina must be eyewitnesses?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu waṣ-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
In the purified Sharīʿah, in order to establish the ḥadd of zina, it is essential that valid proof of zina be presented. There are several reliable means by which zina can be established, including the following:
✿ Four witnesses
✿ Confession or admission
✿ Pregnancy
All of these are considered Sharʿi means for establishing zina, without which the implementation of the ḥadd is not possible.
