Concealing Testimony is a Sin

By: Imrān Ayyūb Lāhorī

Allāh Almighty says:

﴿وَلَا تَكْتُمُوا الشَّهَادَةَ ۚ وَمَن يَكْتُمْهَا فَإِنَّهُ آثِمٌ قَلْبُهُ﴾
[al-Baqarah: 283]

“And do not conceal testimony, and whoever conceals it—his heart is indeed sinful.”

In this verse, the mention of the heart specifically is because concealing something is essentially an act of the heart. Moreover, among all parts of the body, the heart is the one that governs: if it is sound, the whole body remains sound; and if it is corrupt, the whole body becomes corrupt.
