Compensation for Killing or Injuring an Animal
Written by: Imran Ayub Lahori
❖ Ruling:
If someone kills another person’s animal, he must pay its full value. Likewise, if he injures the animal, he must pay compensation according to the extent of the damage and its value.
The reasoning is that slaves and animals are among those possessions over which humans can have ownership. Therefore, whoever destroys them is liable to pay either their price or compensation for the injury.
