Topic: Compensation for a Stolen Cow
If someone has stolen a cow, then:
① The compensation (diya) is equal to the value of the cow at the time it was stolen.
② If the thief does not know the owners, then he must:
✔ Intend to compensate on their behalf, and
✔ Give the equivalent value in charity to the poor.
➤ The reward will go to the original owners.
③ If the thief knows the owners or their heirs, then:
✔ It is obligatory to pay them the full value of the stolen cow.

✿ Ruling on Compensation for a Stolen Cow
If someone has stolen a cow, then:
① The compensation (diya) is equal to the value of the cow at the time it was stolen.
✿ When the Owner is Unknown
② If the thief does not know the owners, then he must:
✔ Intend to compensate on their behalf, and
✔ Give the equivalent value in charity to the poor.
➤ The reward will go to the original owners.
✿ When the Owner or Heirs Are Known
③ If the thief knows the owners or their heirs, then:
✔ It is obligatory to pay them the full value of the stolen cow.
