This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.
① Sayyiduna Iyad bin Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
أهل الجنة ثلاثة: سلطان مقسط موفق، ورجل رحيم رفيق القلب لكل ذي قربى، ومسلم عفيف متعفف ذو عيال
“The people of Paradise are of three kinds: one who judges with justice like a king who fulfills wishes, one who treats every relative with kindness and gentleness, and a chaste Muslim who supports his dependents.”

① It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن الرفق لا يكون فى شيء إلا زانه، ولا ينزع من شيء إلا شانه
"Indeed, whatever has softness in it, it beautifies it, and when softness is removed from something, it makes it defective."

② Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) states that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن الله رفيق يحب الرفق، ويعطي على الرفق ما لا يعطي على العنف وما لا يعطي على ما سواه
"Indeed, Allah is Kind, He loves gentleness and kindness, and He grants something through gentleness which He does not grant through harshness, and besides that, He does not grant in any other way."

③ Sayyidna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
من يحرم الرفق يحرم الخير
"Whoever is deprived of gentleness, it is as if he has been deprived of all good."

① Sayyiduna Utban bin Malik رضي الله عنه narrates, the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood up and said:
أين مالك بن الدخشم؟
"Where is Malik bin Dukhsham?"
At that moment, a man said: He is a hypocrite; he does not love Allah and His Messenger صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
Then the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
لا تقل ذلك، ألا تراه قال: لا إله إلا الله يريد بذلك وجه الله، وإن الله قد حرم على النار من قال: لا إله إلا الله يبتغي بها وجه الله
"Do not say that! Do you not see that he testifies to لا إله إلا الله for the sake of Allah's pleasure? And whoever testifies to لا إله إلا الله for the sake of Allah's pleasure, Allah has forbidden the fire of Hell upon him."

① Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar رضي الله عنهما narrates from the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, who said:
المسلم من سلم المسلمون من لسانه ويده، والمهاجر من هجر ما نهى الله عنه
"A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe, and a Muhajir (emigrant) is one who refrains from what Allah has forbidden."

② Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari رضي الله عنه states, I asked: O Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! Which Muslims are the best?
You صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من سلم المسلمون من لسانه ويده
"Those from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe."

③ Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
المسلم من سلم المسلمون من لسانه ويده، والمؤمن من أمنه الناس على دمائهم وأموالهم
"A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe, and a believer is one from whom people feel safe regarding their lives and their wealth."
