Book of the Virtues of the Quran

Instructions for Reciting the Holy Quran Slowly

① Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (RA) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say:
الجاهر بالقرآن كالجاهر بالصدقة، والمسر بالقرآن كالمسر بالصدقة
"One who recites the Quran aloud is like one who gives charity aloud, and one who recites it quietly is like one who gives charity secretly."
Reference: Abu Dawood, Book of Prayer, Hadith 1333. Tirmidhi, Book of the Virtues of the Quran, Hadith 2919. Its chain is Hasan.

Reciting the Quran and its Instructions

① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
ما اجتمع قوم فى بيت من بيوت الله يتلون كتاب الله ويتدارسونه بينهم إلا نزلت عليهم السكينة، وغشيتهم الرحمة، وحفتهم الملائكة، وذكرهم الله فيمن عنده
"When some people recite the Book of Allah in one of Allah's houses and discuss it among themselves, tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelops them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them among the angels near Him."
Reference: Muslim, Book of Remembrance and Supplication, Hadith 2699/38. Abu Dawood, Book of Prayer, Hadith 1455.

Instructions Regarding Listening Attentively to the Holy Quran

① Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to me:
اقرأ على القرآن
"Recite the Quran to me."
He narrates, I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Should I recite to you when it has been revealed to you? He (peace be upon him) said:
إني أشتهي أن أسمعه من غيري
"I want to hear it from someone other than myself."
Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Tafsir, Surah An-Nisa, Chapter: How is it when We come.

So I recited Surah An-Nisa until I reached this verse:
﴿ فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا ﴾
"So what will be the case when We bring from every nation a witness and We bring you as a witness against these people."
Reference: (An-Nisa:41)

Then I raised my head, a man sitting near me gestured, I raised my head and saw that the tears of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were flowing.

Teaching the Holy Quran

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman رضي الله عنه that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
خيركم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه
"The best among you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it."
Reference: Bukhari, Book of the Virtues of the Quran 5027. Abu Dawood, Book of Prayer 1452. Tirmidhi, Book of the Virtues of the Quran from the Messenger of Allah

② It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman رضي الله عنه that the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
خيركم وأفضلكم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه
"The best and most excellent among you is the one who has learned the Quran and taught it."
Reference: Tirmidhi, Book of the Virtues of the Quran from the Messenger of Allah
