This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① Sayyiduna Hudhaifa رضي الله عنه narrates from the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم that he said:
والذي نفسي بيده لتأمرن بالمعروف ولتنهون عن المنكر أو ليوشكن اللہ أن يبعث عليكم عقابا منه ثم تدعونه فلا يستجيب لكم
"By the One in Whose hand is my soul! You must continue to enjoin good and forbid evil, or it is near that Allah will impose a punishment upon you from Himself, then you will supplicate to Him but He will not accept it on your behalf."
Reference: At-Tirmidhi, Book of Tribulations, Hadith 2169.
② Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه states, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
إنكم لمنصورون ومصيبون ومفتوح عليكم، فمن أدرك ذٰلك منكم فليتق اللہ وليأمر بالمعروف ولينه عن المنكر، ومن كذب على متعمدا فليتبوأ مقعده من النار
"Indeed, you will be helped, you will be afflicted, and you will be victorious. So whoever among you experiences this state, he should fear Allah, enjoin good, and forbid evil. And whoever intentionally lies about me, let him prepare his place in Hell."
Reference: Tirmidhi, Book of Tribulations, Hadith 2257.
① Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal رضي الله عنه narrates from the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, who said:
اتق اللہ حيث ما كنت، وأتبع السيئة الحسنة تمحها، وخالق الناس بخلق حسن
"Fear Allah wherever you are, do good after committing evil, for that will erase it, and treat people with good manners."
Reference: Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Birr, Hadith 1987.
① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
يقول اللہ تعالى يوم القيامة: أين المتحابون بجلالي، اليوم أظلهم فى ظلي يوم لا ظل إلا ظلي
"Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who love each other for My glory? Today I will shelter them under My shade on the day when there is no shade except My shade."
Reference: Muslim, Book of Virtue and Maintaining Ties 2566, Malik, Al-Jami' 2/952. Musnad Ahmad, remaining Musnad of the most frequent narrators 2/237.
② Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
ثلاث من كن فيه وجد بهن طعم الإيمان: من كان اللہ ورسوله أحب إليه مما سواهما، ومن أحب عبدا لا يحبه إلا للٰه، ومن يكره أن يعود فى الكفر بعد أن أنقذه اللہ منه كما يكره أن يلقى فى النار
"Whoever has these three qualities has tasted the sweetness of faith: that Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) are more beloved to him than anything else, that he loves a person solely for the sake of Allah, and that he hates to return to disbelief as he hates to be thrown into the fire after Allah has saved him from it."

③ Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
قال اللہ عز وجل: وجبت محبتي للمتحابين في، والمتزاورين في، والمباذلين في
"Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: Those who love each other for My sake, meet for My sake, and spend for My sake, My love becomes obligatory for them."
Reference: Malik 2/953, 954, the narration is authentic.
④ Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
قال اللہ عز وجل: المتحابون لجلالي لهم منابر من نور يغبطهم الأنبياء والشهداء
"Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: Those who love each other for My glory will have pulpits of light on which the Prophets and the martyrs will envy them."
Reference: Tirmidhi, Book of Asceticism 2390, Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Al-Ansar 5/236, 237, 239, the narration is authentic.
⑤ Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن من عباد اللہ لأناسا ما هم بأنبياء ولا شهداء يغبطهم الأنبياء والشهداء يوم القيامة بمكانهم من اللہ
"Among the servants of Allah, there are some who are neither Prophets nor martyrs, but on the Day of Resurrection, the Prophets and martyrs will envy their status and rank with Allah."
The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Tell us who they are?"
He (peace be upon him) said:
قوم تحابوا بروح اللہ على غير أرحام بينهم ولا أموال يتعاطونها، فواللہ إن وجوههم لنور، وإنهم لعلى نور، لا يخافون إذا خاف الناس، ولا يحزنون إذا حزن الناس وقرا ھذہ الایۃ ﴿ أَلَا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ﴾
"They are those who love each other not because of kinship or wealth, but purely for the pleasure of Allah. By Allah! Their faces will be radiant with light, and they will be upon light. When people are fearful, distressed, and sorrowful, they will have no fear or grief at that time."
And he (peace be upon him) recited this verse: "Behold! The friends of Allah shall have no fear nor shall they grieve."
Reference: It is good due to its supporting evidences. Abu Dawood, Book of Sales 3527, narrated from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) not from his son as here; its chain is weak due to a break between Abu Zur'ah and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Abu Nu'aym narrated it from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Al-Hilyah 1/5 and Ibn Hibban 573.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man was present in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when another man passed by. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! I love this person. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
أعلمته؟
"Have you informed him?"
He replied: No! The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
أعلمه
"Inform him."
So he met him and said:
I love you for the sake of Allah.
That (other) person said:
"For the sake of the One for whom you love me, I also love you."
