Clarification on the Killing of a Sorcerer

Should a Sorcerer from the People of the Book Be Killed Similar to a Muslim Sorcerer?​

Answer:
  • Imam Malik (رحمه الله) stated:
    "If the sorcerer does not harm Muslims, he should not be killed."
    [Ahkam al-Qur’an by al-Jassas, 1/42]
  • Imam al-Shafi'i (رحمه الله) said:
    "He will not be killed merely due to his practice of sorcery."
  • Imam Ahmad (رحمه الله) said:
    "He will be declared a disbeliever due to his sorcery. Whether he is killed or not depends on the ruling, but he will certainly be classified as a disbeliever."
