❖ When Can a Woman Seek Khulʿ?
Written by: ʿImrān Ayyūb Lāhorī
❀ Scholarly Explanation
Ibn Qudāmah رحمه الله said:
If a woman dislikes her husband due to his appearance, manners, character, religion, age, weakness, or any similar reason, and she fears that she will not be able to fulfill Allah’s rights in obedience to him, then it is permissible for her to seek separation through khulʿ by returning compensation (such as her mahr) to her husband.
This is supported by the saying of Allah
"If you fear that they will not be able to maintain the limits of Allah, then there is no sin upon them concerning what she gives up to obtain her release."
