❖ Question

If the imam changes his place during the ʿĪd sermon and delivers a very lengthy khutbah that leads people to become weary and disengaged, is such an action permissible?

❖ Answer

Changing the place during the ʿĪd sermon is not impermissible — there is no harm in it from a Sharʿī perspective.

✘ However, making the sermon excessively long to the point that people become tired or disinterested is discouraged and undesirable.

🔹 The khāṭib (sermon-giver) should ensure that the khutbah remains concise, impactful, and engaging to preserve the attention and benefit of the audience.
