Can Qurrāʼ with Deviant Beliefs Be Invited to Religious Platforms?

✿ Ruling on Inviting Qurrāʼ with Deviant Beliefs to Ahl al-Tawḥīd Platforms ✿
Answered by: Shaykh Saʿīd Mujtabā Saʿīdī ḥafiẓahullāh & Shaykh ʿAbd al-Wakīl Nāṣir ḥafiẓahullāh

❖ Question:

What is the ruling on inviting reciters (Qurrāʼ) who hold deviant beliefs or display un-Islamic appearances to Ahl al-Tawḥīd stages?

✔ Answer:

It is not permissible to invite speakers or Qurrāʼ who hold deviant ʿaqīdah (beliefs) or exhibit un-Islamic appearances to the platforms of Ahl al-Tawḥīd, as doing so would amount to:

Honoring their false ideologies
Showing respect for non-compliant external conduct

Therefore, such invitations should be avoided.

❖ Further Clarification:

✔ The pulpits, platforms, and stages of Ahl al-Tawḥīd are rightfully reserved for:
➤ Those who uphold pure Tawḥīd
➤ Those who follow the Salafī Manhaj (methodology of the righteous predecessors)

Even though there may be some technical distinction between a pulpit and a stage, the purpose of both is to serve and represent Islām.

❖ General Guidelines:

Give precedence to people of sound ʿaqīdah and Salafī methodology
➤ Prefer those close to the creed and practice of Ahl al-Tawḥīd for public religious platforms.

Concerning individuals with un-Islamic appearance:
➤ It is better not to invite them.
➤ If they must be included, their role should be limited and regulated.

In Political Gatherings:
➤ If the nature of the event is political, not religious, then the same level of ʿaqīdah scrutiny may not apply.
➤ However, respect for Islamic values should still be maintained.

In Qur’an Recitation Events:
➤ Well-known Qurrāʼ (such as from Egypt), even with visible shortcomings in appearance, may be invited strictly for recitation, not for speech or teaching.

Practical Engagement with Wisdom:

Invite them to correct their beliefs and practices in a manner of wisdom.
✔ Maintain engagement with gentleness, clarity, and sound advice.
✔ If their ʿaqīdah and practice are both corrupt, stay connected with the intention of guiding them toward the truth.

✔ Summary:

Ahl al-Tawḥīd platforms are for those who uphold correct belief and practice.
Inviting people of deviant beliefs or un-Islamic appearance can send wrong messages of endorsement.
Engage such individuals wisely, but do not elevate them in public religious events.
