❖ Question

Is it permissible for a woman in the state of Ihrām to wear gloves and socks?

Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh, ammā ba‘d!

It is permissible for a Muḥrim woman to wear socks during the state of Ihrām, as there is no prohibition regarding this. According to Islamic teachings, a woman is allowed to cover her feet, and wearing socks for this purpose is considered valid.

However, when it comes to wearing gloves, there is an explicit prohibition from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

« لَا تَلْبَسِ الْقُفَّازِيْنِ »
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Kitāb Jazā’ aṣ-Ṣayd, Bāb Mā Yunhā ‘an aṭ-Ṭīb lil-Muḥrim wa al-Muḥrimah, Ḥadīth: 1838)

“A woman should not wear gloves.”

This ḥadīth clearly indicates that wearing gloves is not permitted for a woman in the state of Ihrām.

Conclusion

Wearing socks is permissible.
❌ Wearing gloves is prohibited.
