Can a Ḥāfiẓ lead Tarāwīḥ prayers in two different mosques?
Yes, he can lead in two mosques.
❀ Qays bin Ṭalq رحمه الله narrates:
During Ramaḍān, one day Sayyidunā Ṭalq bin ʿAlī رضي الله عنه came to us. When evening approached, he had iftār with us. That night, he led us in Qiyām (Tarāwīḥ) and Witr. Afterwards, he went to his own mosque and led his companions in prayer. When only Witr remained, he appointed another person to lead them in Witr and said:
“Let someone else lead the Witr, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:
❝ Lā witrāni fī laylah. ❞
‘There are no two Witrs in one night.’”
Sunan Abī Dāwūd: 1439; Sunan al-Nasā’ī: 1680; Sunan al-Tirmidhī: 470 – Chain is ḥasan (sound). Also reported in Musnad Aḥmad: 4/23 – Chain is ḥasan.
✔ This narration clearly supports the permissibility of a single individual leading Tarāwīḥ in multiple locations, provided Witr is not repeated.
