❖ Question:
Is it true that the Deobandi spiritual leader Hāji Imdādullāh, in his book Kulliyāt Imdādiyyah, described a method by which one becomes God?
❖ Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:
Yes, Hāji Imdādullāh writes about a dhākir (one engaged in the remembrance of Allah):
(Kulliyāt Imdādiyyah, Published by Dār al-Ishāʿat, Karachi, p. 18)
❖ Analysis:
This statement implies that a human, by immersing himself in dhikr, can become the very object of remembrance — i.e., Allah Himself.
Such a claim is blatantly false, and contradicts the core beliefs of Islam regarding the uniqueness and transcendence of Allah.
❖ Qur’anic Refutation:
(Surah az-Zukhruf: 15)
“And they made for Him a portion from among His servants. Verily, man is clearly ungrateful.”
This verse makes it clear that associating part of Allah with His creation is blatant disbelief (kufr).
So to believe that a human, through dhikr, becomes Allah, is a far greater and more severe form of disbelief.
❖ Further Blasphemous and Polytheistic Content in
The book Kulliyāt Imdādiyyah contains multiple expressions that are in clear contradiction to Islamic monotheism (Tawḥīd).
Such statements are not compatible with the fundamentals of Islamic ʿaqīdah and lead directly to kufr (disbelief) and shirk (polytheism).
Conclusion:
◈ This evidence proves that some statements of Hāji Imdādullāh — such as claiming one can become Allah through dhikr — are blatantly rooted in kufr and shirk.
◈ According to the foundational principles of Islam, no human can become Allah under any circumstances.
◈ Such beliefs must be rejected outright to preserve correct Islamic creed.
