Avoiding people, Jihad in the way of Allah, and the commands regarding travel in the way of Allah

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.

Avoiding People

① Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri رضي الله عنه narrates that a man came to the presence of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and asked: Who among the people is the best person? The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
"The person who fights in the way of Allah with his wealth and life."
Then the Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
ورجل معتزل فى شعب من الشعاب يعبد ربه
"And the person who withdraws to a valley and practices seclusion and worships his Lord."
And in one narration: "He fears Allah and protects people from his evil."
Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Jihad and Expedition 6494, 2876.

② Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
ألا أخبركم بخير الناس منزلا؟
"Shall I not tell you about the best person in terms of status and rank?"
We said (the Companions رضي الله عنهم said): O Messenger of Allah! Please tell us. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
"The person who takes the reins of his horse and goes out in the way of Allah until he dies or is martyred. Shall I tell you about the person whose rank is after him?"
We said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell us. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
"The person who secludes himself in a valley, establishes prayer, gives zakat, and keeps away from the evil of people. Shall I tell you about the worst person?"
We said: Yes! O Messenger of Allah. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
"The one who is asked in the name of Allah (for charity) but does not give."

"The group or army that fights in the way of Allah and returns safely with lawful spoils of war or wounded, they receive two-thirds of their reward in this world, and the group or army that is defeated or becomes fearful and suffers harm (does not obtain spoils of war), their full reward is preserved."
