❖ Question:
Is it Sunnah to recite the following duʿā after the obligatory prayers?
“اللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام فحيِّنا ربنا بالسلام وأدخلنا الجنة دارك دار السلام تباركت وتعاليت يا ذا الجلال والإكرام”
❖ Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:
This specific supplication is not authentically proven in any narration — whether ṣaḥīḥ (authentic), ḥasan (sound), or even ḍaʿīf (weak).
✦ Statement of Shaykh al-Jazarī رحمه الله:
As mentioned in Mirqāt al-Mafātīḥ (2/358), Shaykh al-Jazarī رحمه الله said in Taṣḥīḥ al-Maṣābīḥ:
“The addition after ‘مِنْكَ السَّلَام’ — namely, ‘إِلَيْكَ يَرْجِعُ السَّلَام، فَحَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلَام، وَأَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ دَارَكَ دَارَ السَّلَام’ — has no basis. It is merely an invention of a preacher.”
The Authentic Wording Proven in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim:
“اللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام تباركت يا ذا الجلال والإكرام”
This is the authentic wording that the Prophet ﷺ recited after the obligatory prayers.
Conclusion:
◄ The specific extended version of the duʿā mentioned in the question is not proven from the Sunnah; rather, it is a fabricated addition by a preacher.
◄ The authentic and correct version is the one recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim.
◄ Only the wording established by authentic Hadith should be followed to remain in adherence to the Sunnah.
