❖ A Strange Narration Examined — With Complete Clarification
❀ Question
It is reported about a Companion رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ that he would return home immediately after the Maghrib prayer. The Companions رضوان اللہ علیہم اجمعین asked the Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم about this: Why does this Companion return home right away every day after the prayer?
When the Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم inquired of him, he said:
“My wife and I possess only one sheet. We both perform our prayer using this single sheet. When I take the sheet to the mosque, my wife remains at home in a state of undress. Since the time for Maghrib is short, I quickly offer my prayer and return home so that I may give the sheet to my wife and she can perform her prayer.”
Upon this, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
“If you wish to see a couple from Paradise, then look at this couple.”
Thereafter, the Noble Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم gifted some camels to this couple. When the Companion reached home, his wife said to him:
“Either keep me with you, or keep those camels.”
So the Companion returned the camels and kept his wife with him.
This incident has been mentioned by Qari ‘Abdul Hafeez Faisalabadi in one of his cassette recordings. The question is:
Is this incident found in any reliable Hadith book? If so, what is its chain (isnad)? Kindly clarify. جزاکم اللہ خیراً۔
May Allah grant us the ability to serve the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Ameen.
