Are the Devils Chained in Ramadan?

Authored by: Dr. Raza Abdullah Pasha (Hafizahullah)

Answer:

It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

«إذا كان أول ليلة من شهر رمضان صفدت الشياطين ومردة الجن»

"When the first night of Ramadan arrives, the devils and the rebellious jinn are chained."

📖 [Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 682]

Understanding This Hadith:

Satan and the rebellious jinn are restrained during Ramadan.
✔ This helps Muslims focus on worship, fasting, and good deeds without the usual whispers and temptations of Satan.
✔ However, human desires (nafs) and habits still play a role in leading people toward sin, even in Ramadan.

Conclusion:

✅ The influence of Satan is significantly reduced during Ramadan.
✅ Ramadan provides a golden opportunity for believers to strengthen their faith and purify their souls.
✅ Engaging in worship, Quran recitation, and good deeds becomes easier during this blessed month.
