Allah alone is the Provider and the Steadfast: Affirmation of the attribute of power and forbearance and rejection of polytheism

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Abdullah Nasir Rahmani's Explanation of Kitab al-Tawheed from Sahih Bukhari.

Kitab al-Tawheed

Reference: (Adh-Dhariyat:58)

The words of the recitation narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him: [إِنِّي أَنَا الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ]
Reference: (Sunan Abi Dawood:3993)

In this verse, it is emphatically stated that Allah, the Lord of Glory, alone is رزّاق. He is the Powerful and the Strong.

And if despite this, any person calls upon anyone other than Allah as the Giver, the Bestower, or the One who fulfills needs and removes difficulties, then this is a clear denial of this noble verse, a rebellion against the chapter of Names and Attributes, and this is an extremely dangerous form of shirk (polytheism).

In this verse, Allah, the Lord of Glory, has used emphatic words.

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, stated that: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: There is no one who is more patient with distressing matters than Allah. The wretched polytheists say that Allah has offspring, yet He forgives them and provides for them.

Benefits and Deductions: Fadilah Sheikh Abdullah Nasir Rahmani, may Allah preserve him

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari رضي الله عنه, his name is Abdullah bin Qais. He came from Yemen. He migrated to Abyssinia and Medina. He met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Khaybar. (And Sayyiduna Ja'far Tayyar رضي الله عنه was also with him during the migration journey)

Virtue: Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari رضي الله عنه narrated that: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Abu Musa! You have been given a voice like that of Dawud عليه السلام.
Reference: (Bukhari:5048)

He passed away in Makkah in 42 AH.

Imam Bukhari رحمه الله’s reasoning is as follows:

ما أحد أصبر على أذى: There is no one greater than Allah, the Lord of Glory, who is patient upon hearing something painful. Allah, the Lord of Glory, is most patient with His servants regarding those things that are painful and rebellious against the Shariah. And this pain reaches Allah, but Allah Almighty is not harmed at all. (There is absolutely no need for interpretation here; some people say that the pain here is not for Allah Almighty but for Allah’s saints and servants.) They cause pain to Allah Almighty, but Allah Almighty is not harmed at all. Allah, the Lord of Glory, is free from harm.

It is a Hadith Qudsi: [

[My servants! You will never have the power to harm Me so that you can harm Me, nor will you ever be able to benefit Me so that you can benefit Me].
Reference: (Sahih Muslim:2577)

Name of Allah Almighty: الصبور The Patient One

Name of Allah Almighty: الحلیم (Meaning) The intention is that when servants commit sins, Allah, the Lord of Glory, does not punish them immediately; He gives them respite. Although when servants sin, Allah Almighty’s proof against them is established.

And what is a sinner? (The Prophet, peace be upon him, said): [إن الله يغار، وغيرة الله أن يأتي المؤمن ما حرم الله]

[That Allah becomes jealous, and Allah’s jealousy arises when a believing servant does what Allah has forbidden]

Reference: (Sahih al-Bukhari:5223)

Some people attribute offspring to Allah Almighty, may Allah protect us, although this is a very terrible and dangerous belief. Despite this, look at the forbearance and patience of Allah Almighty that He does not immediately punish them, but rather grants them safety and provides sustenance. Attributing offspring to Allah Almighty is such a great sin that if the severity of this belief were manifested upon the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, they would burst, the earth would split, and the mountains would crumble into pieces and fall.

The command of Allah, the Lord of Glory, is:

[And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son."] [Indeed, you have brought forth a grave statement.] [The heavens might almost rupture therefrom, and the earth split open and the mountains collapse in devastation,] [That they attribute a son to the Most Merciful.]

Affirmation of the name of Allah, the Lord of Glory: ،،الرزاق،،

Affirmation of the name of Allah, the Lord of Glory: ،،المتین،،

Affirmation of this attribute: ذو القوة:, this is a refutation of the Jahmiyyah who deny the names.

And it is a refutation of the Mu'tazilah in the hadith. Because in ،،أصبر،، the meaning of ،،ذو القوة،، is (that) He is capable of patience. And the meaning of المتین is not apart from His power.

يَرْزُقُ: ،،الرَّزَّاقُ،، means the affirmation of the attribute __ARABIC_19.
